Buttonfly's acoustic sounds are brought to you by Michael Gray and Stephanie Kotz.
Mike began playing guitar over thirty years ago after being inspired by the gypsy musicians on the streets of San Francisco. After seeing his nephew's passion for music, his Uncle Tony presented Mike with his first guitar, a Harmony acoustic. This axe met with an untimely demise fueled by teenage angst! Mike draws on a wide range of influences, artists like Stephen Stills, Leo Kottke & Lyle Lovett in acoustic music, and the blues-rock of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan for electric playing. Whether playing finger style acoustic or ripping it up in electric, you’ll hear an exciting, soulful guitarist and singer who has also learned a bit of respect for the instrument. Mike currently studies music with Frank Flandorffer in Allentown.
Steph has been singing as long as she can remember. She has studied music theory and has a classical choral and musical theater background. After numerous musical theater performances and six years spent singing with The Wyoming County Chorale, Steph finally took the leap into live local acoustic music. Since then, she's performed with the Sarah Holgate band, The Idol Kings, The Blues Professors, Smokin', and has joined Jumper Philly at The Sands Casino for a song or two. Friends have described her alto voice as a combination of Natalie Merchant, Janis Joplin, and Norah Jones (which is really quite an honor). The energy of singing, performing, and interacting with great crowds keep her coming back for more!
