Diarmuid MacSuibhne(or McSweeney) grew up in the traditionally musical surroundings of Baile Bhúirne, in the Múscraí Gaeltacht of Co. Cork. His first exposure to music and song was part of the local set dancing tradition of his grandparents and the traditional Sean Nós(old custom) style singing of his maternal grandmother.
During his time in University College Cork, Diarmuid, along with his friends, were involved in the Thirsty Scholars musical movement in Cork City, where they found a home in “ An Spailpín Fánach” Pub on South Main Street after their original “Thirsty Scholar” Pub on Washington street was flooded in 2010. They developed a high energy style of traditional music and ballad singing that earned them a place as one of the prestigious "Leeside Sessions” of Cork City.
Diarmuid moved to the North East of the US in January 2015 and has since made a name for himself as a Banjo player and singer with his own particular “Guff” and Storytelling solo style that can bring a crowd from laugher to tears and back again on a timeless bardic wandering.
